It reads like a first-draft, riddled with typos, misspellings, obvious factual errors, and dozens of places where a fact, a quote, or even an exact phrase is repeated within the same chapter or even within the same paragraph. It's as if the author himself never bothered to re-read his finished manuscript, let alone offering it up to an editor or fact-checker.

It's incredibly frustrating and distracting and I found myself having to re-read passages just to make sure I wasn't having some sort of cognitive breakdown, only to discover that, nope, that's exactly the same quote I read a page back, and, yep, the book did just say The Drifters and The Mamas and The Papas were on Motown.
