Brittany Anne Bertolotti, known professionally as Brittany Murphy, was an American actress and singer.
She was born on November 10, 1977, in Atlanta, Georgia to Sharon Murphy, who was of Irish and Eastern European Jewish descent, and Angelo Bertolotti, who was of Italian-American heritage. After her parents divorced when she was two years old, she took her mother's last name.
Early Career
At the age of nine, Murphy began performing in local theater productions and signed her first contract with an acting agency at thirteen.
